Acupuncture is a complete system of medicine based on principles which have been used in the Orient for the last 4,000 years. Chinese Herbs: Chinese herbs are sometimes prescribed by themselves or in addition to the acupuncture treatment. They can be animal, mineral or vegetable based although the majority are vegetable sources. Leaves, flowers, stems, twigs, roots, tubers, rhizomes and barks are some parts used. When taking herbs, if there are any side effects, let your practitioner know so they can adjust the formula. There should be no side effects when taking Chinese herbs.
